Our proprietary bonding technology for polymer microfluidic devices employs a material-specific binding agent to fuse parts seamlessly without remaining intermediate layers.

This process yields permanent bonds within seconds, ensuring precise microchannels, biocompatibility, transparency, and leak-tightness even under high pressures.

This direct bonding technology is used for bonding polymer microfluidics. A binding agent is precisely applied around the microfluidic channels on the bonding surfaces. The surfaces are then joined, and the agent is activated, creating a permanent connection.

This method forms a complete seal over the entire surface and up to the channel edge, ensuring optimal microfluidic performance in applications such as microfluidic stop valves or pumps.

Technology benefits include;

High bond strength; suitable for applications with high pressures, aggressive chemicals and large temperature fluctuations

Most importantly, the technology is designed for scalability to high production volumes.

This technology is mainly used for making polymer-polymer connections and works effectively across a wide range of sizes, from microfluidic parts with channels as small as 20µm to larger channels up to 10mm. It is preferred over UV adhesives for its ability to create a more robust connection without an intermediate glue layer.

Currently this technology can be used with PMMA, PC, PS and COC, including some material combinations. Other materials are on request, so that our team can propose the most suitable solution.
